Creed Bratton was born on 8 February 1943 in Los Angeles, California. He spent his childhood in Coarsegold, a small town near Yosemite National Park in California. His parents and grandparents were associated with music, so he inherits a natural tendency towards music. He was a professional musician during his school and college days.

His name was changed to Chuck Ertmoed, after his mother’s re-marriage. He again changed his name and adapted the previous one, when he set out on a global musical excursion. During this excursion, he traveled through Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He played guitar in a folk festival in Israel for his group- Young Californians. There he was met by Warren Entner (an American guitarist) who asked Creed to give him a call after returning to America. Both of them later collaborated to create a group named ‘The 13th Floor’.

Creed became the lead guitarist in the group, with Rick Coonce on drums while Warren Entner played rhythm guitar and Kenny Fukomoto on bass. They sent the demo of their performance to a new record company, Dunhill- headed by Lou Adler. The demo was appreciated by the Producers/ songwriters P.F Sloan and Steve Berry. They had their own group named The Grassroots, and they wanted new band members for the group. Members of the ‘The 13th Floor’ took on the new name- The Grassroots, for its prior name recognition. They created hit songs like ‘Midnight Confessions’, ‘No Exit’, ‘Hot Bright Light’, ‘Let’s Live For Today’ and ‘Dinner For Eight’. Bratton Played as a group member in the albums ‘Let’s Live For Today‘, ‘Feelings’, ‘Golden Grass’ and ‘Lovin’ Things’. He left the band in 1972 but continued to pursue his career in music. “Chasin’ The Ball“, “The 80s“, “Coarsegold” and “Creed Bratton” were some of his solo albums.

He started to appear on screen in the films like ‘Labor Pains’, ‘Mask‘, ‘Heart Like a Wheel’, ‘The Wild Pair’ and ‘Neon City’. He has also acted in television series like, ‘Today‘, ‘Secret Sins of the Father’, ‘Eight Is Enough’ and ‘American Bandstand‘, etc. He appeared in ‘The Office’ as “Creed Bratton“.

He won the Screen Actors Guild Award in 2008 under the category of Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series for ‘The Office’. He was nominated for the same award, for the same show, under the same category in 2009. He also won the Future Classic Award in 2008 in the TV Land Awards for ‘The Office’.

Creed Bratton is playing the role of “Creed Braton” in ‘The Office’ tv show. He is playing the fictionalized version of himself. He is the Quality Assurance Director in the Dunder Mifflin. He was a rock musician in the past. He has a poor memory, which is due to his habit of drug use during his career as a musician. He forgets the name of almost everyone in the office.
