Melora Hardin was born on 29 June 1967 in Houston, Texas. She is the daughter of Diane, a retired actress and Jerry Hardin, an actor. Her sister Shawn Hardin is the Flock CEO. Her husband is Gildart Jackson and they have two daughters - Rory Melora and Piper Hardy Jackson. She has acted in films, theatre and in television shows.
She appeared for the fist time in the television series ‘Thunder‘ (1977-1978). She was too young at that time. She also has acted in ‘Little House On The Prairie’ (1981), ‘Little House: Look Back To Yesterday’ (a TV movie), ‘Dirty Dancing’ and ‘Quantum Leap‘. In 1990, she had a chance to act in a dancing movie ‘Lambada‘. Her role of “Jan Levinson” in series ‘The Office’ has earned much recognition for her. Her roles in ‘Papa Was a Preacher‘ (1985), ‘Two Marriages’ (1983) and ‘The Family Tree‘ (1983) were among the best performances she did during her teens.
She has starred in “Cover Me: Based on the True Life of an FBI Family”. She has also worked in shows like ‘Monk’, ‘Friends‘, ‘Gilmore Girls’, ‘CSI’, ‘Love Boat‘ etc. She also has done films like ‘Thank You For Smoking’, ‘The Hot Chick‘, ‘Absolute Power‘, ‘Soul Man’, etc. She has appeared in the TV movies, ‘The Hollywood Mom’s Mystery’ and ‘Dynasty: The Making Of A Guilty Pleasure’.

She won the Young Artist Award in 1985 in the category- Best Young Supporting Actress in Daytime or Nighttime Drama for ‘Two Marriages‘. She earned the nomination for the same award in 1984 for Best Young Actress in a Drama Series for ‘The Family Tree‘ in 1984 and for Exceptional Performance by a Young Actress Starring in a Feature Film - Comedy or Drama for ‘Papa Was A Preacher‘ in 1987.
