Paul Lieberstein was born on 22 February 1967 in Westport, Connecticut. He is the son of Judith and Stanley Lieberstein. He studied at the Staples High School and then at the Hamilton College. He is the brother of Susanne Daniels, President of Lifetime Entertainment Services and the wife of Greg Daniels. His brother Warren is the husband of Angela Kinsey. He himself is married to Janine Poreba. This is his second marriage. He worked as an auditor at Peat Marwick International for a few months, after doing graduation.
He began his career as a writer in the TV series ‘Clarrisa Explains It All’. He has written for ‘The Simpsons’, ‘Weird Science’, ‘Greg The Bunny‘, ‘Dead Like Me’ and ‘The Naked Truth’. He has also written and produced the animation series ‘King of the Hill’. He was also the writer and co-executive producer of ‘The Drew Carey Show’ and ‘The Bernie Mac Show’, for a brief period. He has also worked as the writer and co-executive producer of the American version of the TV series ‘The Office’. He has also directed an episode named “Money“, of season four of ‘The office’. He appears in the role of “Toby Flenderson” in ‘The Office’. He has earned nominations in many awards and has won many others.
He won the Daytime Emmy Award in 2007, in the category- Outstanding Broadband Program - Comedy for “The Office: The Accountants“. He won the 2006 Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series for “The Office’, and the 1999, he won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program for “King of the Hill“. He also earned the nominations for the Emmy Awards in 2007 & 2008 for Outstanding Comedy Series for ‘The Office‘ and in 2001 for Outstanding Animated Program for “King of the Hill“. He won The Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2007 & 2008 and was a nominee in 2009 for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series for ‘The Office‘. He was a nominee for the various categories of the Writers Guild of America Awards, and won the same under the category of Comedy Series for ‘The Office’, in 2007 and 2008.

He is not under the authority of Michael, and sends his reports to corporate headquarters, and putts off some of the ideas given by him. This is the reason behind Michaels dislike towards him. He is a soft-spoken guy and has a crush on Pam Beesly. He never told Pam about this. He left the job because he wanted to move to Costa Rica. He is divorced, and his daughter is a huge admirer of Michael.
