Steve Carell was born on 16 August in Concord, Massachusetts, U.S. He is the son of Edwin A. Carell, an electrical engineer and
Harriet T. (née Koch), a psychiatric nurse. He studied at The Fenn School and Middlesex School. Then he moved on to study at Denison University in Granville, Ohio . His maternal uncle Stanley Koch was a glassblower who worked with Allen B. DuMont to create cathode ray tubes. He is the husband of Nancy Walls and has two children Elisabeth Anne and John.
In his early days, he did stage acting for a touring children’s theatre company. Then he appeared in ‘Knat Scatt Private Eye’, which was a musical comedy. He has done commercial for ‘Brown’s Chicken’. In 1991, he was associated with the Chicago troupe ‘Second City‘ where he performed and taught the improvisational comedy class. He got his first film role in ‘Curly Sue’.
He became famous after giving breakout performance in ‘Bruce Almighty‘ (2003) as “Evan Baxter” and then in ‘Bewitched‘ (2005) as “Uncle Arthur“. Before this, he played roles in ‘Come to Papa‘, ‘Over the Top’ and ‘Just Shoot Me!‘ He also made an appearance in ‘Sleepover’ and ‘Melinda and Melinda‘. He worked as the correspondent on ‘The Daily Show’ from 1999-2005. He acted as “Michael Scott” in the TV series ‘The Office’. His role of “Brick Tamland” in ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy‘ gave him much appreciation as an actor. He has also voiced for the animated series ‘Over the Hedge’ and in ‘Horton Hears a Who!‘. His other films include ‘The 40- Year Old Virgin’ and ‘Dan in Real Life’, and ‘Get Smart’.
He won several Awards in different categories and was nominated for many others. He won the Golden Globe in 2006 in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy for ‘The Office’. He was nominated three times for the Golden Globe in 2007, 2008 and in 2009 for the same category and the same TV show. He was nominated for the Emmy Award three times in 2006, 2007 and 2008 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series (The Office). He also won the Screen Actors Guild Award in 2007 and 2008 for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series (part of ensemble cast for The Office). He also won the same Award in 2007 in the category of Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for ‘Little Miss Sunshine’. He has many other wins and many other nominations to his credit.

He wants that everyone in his office should take him as a friend, rather than a boss. He has an inflated view of himself and thinks of himself as the office comedian. He unknowingly says things, which are offensive or inappropriate to be laughed at. His subordinates consider him inept, but Dwight Schrute is an exception to it. He has no malice in his heart and whatever he does is with the intention of making other’s happy.
